Why I attended bridal shows

To some brides, taking time out of your busy schedule to attend a bridal show seems like just one more thing they HAVE to do during the planning process.  I felt this way at first but then went to my first show as a bride and had an absolute blast (and so did my fiance!).  Why did I personally attend a bridal show?

1.)  PRIZES
Let's face it, people love to win free stuff!  The chances of winning at a bridal show are better than most raffles.  Most bridal shows give away prizes worth thousands (I said THOUSANDS!!).  Check out the prizes that brides won at the Chico Bridal Showcase.  I personally, got to go on stage in a money booth, at one of the shows I attended while engaged!  How fun is that?  I love FREE - it's the best price!

2.) Excitement
Another truth.  Wedding planning is stressful, which is the understatement of the year.  Sometimes you just feel overwhelmed and not excited about your own wedding!  A bridal show is a way to de-stress and get excited all over again about your big day!  Talking with vendors and being treated like the princess you are builds up anticipation for your wedding.  Bridal shows are also a great way to bring unruly bridesmaids together to realize what an honor it is to be in your wedding.

3.) Samples
Free food!  And it's the good stuff :) Caterers are out to impress and bring their A game to the table (pun intended!).  Yummy!  Tri-tip, mashed potatoes, cake, appetizers, chocolate fountains, CUPCAKES!  Need I say more?

4.)  Meeting a vendor face to face
You may have heard from your friends or family about a certain vendor that you're interested in booking.  However, you're going to work with this business intimately and are trusting this person with one of the biggest days of your life.  Meeting a business owner face-to-face gives you an idea of how serious they take their business (their willing to invest in their business by having a booth), how they dress for special events, and an overall vibe of their personality.  First impressions matter.

5.) Vendor Discounts
Many vendors offer a discount if you book the day of the show!  My fiance sure loved that reason!  Money saved and one thing off your list=a happy bride!  Bring your checkbook and be prepared to book those vendors you fall in love with.

What are your top 5 reasons to attend a show?

Your Bloggers:

Kory Watkins (Barker), Red Bluff Events

Kory married the man of her dreams in her family home in 2008 in Chico, CA. Her love of planning her own wedding started her passion for all things bridal. She and Alexis, began helping brides coordinate their weddings with Red Bluff Events in 2009 but the two of them are more popularly known as "the Prize Wheel Divas" at various bridal shows in the North State. She enjoys doing all things creative, bringing high energy, and organization to all events she has a hand in. Her husband, Grant, one year old son, Carter, and black lab Coco, spend their time BBQing with friends and family and remodeling their home in Red Bluff.

Alexis LeClair (Glines), Red Bluff Events
Alexis has helped coordinate weddings, Quinceras, corporate & non-profit meetings & events during her years working at the local Community Center. After changing careers, she missed the excitement of planning events and began coordinating weddings in her "spare" time. Her first wedding coordinated was over 400 people! In 2009, she married her husband Jack at the Sundial Bridge, and launched Red Bluff Events shortly after. The second half of "The Prize Wheel Divas", she has worked with various bridal shows in the North State. Alexis enjoys gardening, entertaining friends & family, decorating, reading and relaxing with her mutts, Vinnie, "G" dog, Logan, & cat Cindy Crawford, (and of course her husband too:)

Each week on My Red Bluff Wedding we'll post a fun topic to share about. This week's topic is "How did you meet your fiance?"

Kory:

I remember the moment I laid eyes on my husband, Grant (cheesy, but, I do!). I wanted to introduce myself but couldn't get up the nerve to walk right up to him with everyone watching. When I noticed he was talking to a long time friend of mine, I knew it gave me an "in" to butt in and say Hi. We ended up dancing all night and never looked back! We were happily married 2 years later and welcomed our son Carter a year later!

Alexis:

I actually met my husband the same night I met my "Korndog" Kory! I knew Grant through working at the Community Center and apparently he thought Jack and I were meant for each other. One night at Luigi's in the parking lot, Kory, Grant, and Jack followed me out to corner me and introduced us. I wasn't interested in meeting anyone but right away I was intrigued with Jack. He made me laugh when he went to shake my hand as he told me he was a sewer pumper and hadn't washed his hands after work. Turns out he wasn't a sewer pumper but had a great sense of humor, which was exactly what I was looking for! 5 months later we were engaged and married a year after that!

Now share your story with us! In the "comments" tell us how you met YOUR fiance!
